Can I blacklist product categories from loyalty in Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) POS?

🏷️ Excluding specific product-categories from rewards is

unlocked on the Loyalty Accelerate plan.

All product categories are included in your loyalty program by default. You can exclude specific product categories so they won’t earn loyalty points or contribute to rewards.

Before you get started

Here are some key details to note before getting started with blacklisting product categories in Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) POS:

  • By default, customers earn points on all products

  • Exclusions are based on Lightspeed (R-Series) Product Collections

  • Excluded products:

    • ❌ Do not earn loyalty points

    • ❌ Do not count toward rewards

    • ✅ Do not affect other eligible products in the same order


Exclude (blacklist) product categories from loyalty in Lightspeed Retail (R-Series)

How do I exclude product collections from my loyalty program?

1. In your Marsello admin, go to your Loyalty tab and select Settings > Loyalty > Points program

2. Scroll to Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) POS Order Rewarding

3. Under Do not reward points on products that belong to one of these categories, click the dropdown

4. Select the product collection(s) you want to exclude

In the Marsello admin, the user goes to the Loyalty tab and selects Settings > Loyalty > Points Program. They scroll down to the Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) POS Order Rewarding section. Under Do not reward points on products that belong to one of these categories, the user clicks the drop-down menu and selects the product collection names to exclude from earning loyalty points.

5. Click Save

📝Note:

  • It may take up to 10 minutes for newly added product collections to appear

  • You can exclude multiple collections

What happens when customers buy excluded products?

  • Customers do not earn points for excluded products

  • Customers still earn points for eligible products in the same order

  • Excluded items appear in the customer profile as a points exclusion line item

  • Rewards (e.g. discounts) do not apply to excluded products

📝 Note:

  • If the purchase also includes products that are not part of the blacklisted category, the customer will still earn points for those eligible items

  • Rewards (such as discounts or redemptions) do not apply to blacklisted products included in a sale
