Loyalty program training: Shopify POS - How do my customers redeem rewards during the sale?

Redeem customer loyalty rewards or email discounts in Shopify POS to apply discounts at checkout and update points based on the final order total.

Redeeming customer rewards at checkout is quick, seamless, and designed to enhance both the customer experience and your sales workflow. Whether customers are using loyalty rewards or email-exclusive discounts, Marsello makes it easy to apply these savings directly from the sales screen. Simply scan their loyalty QR code or look them up by name, email, or phone number to instantly access available rewards. This streamlined process not only speeds up transactions but also helps drive repeat purchases and encourages ongoing customer engagement.


How do I redeem rewards during a sale?

You can redeem available loyalty rewards and email discounts easily from the sales screen. Access customers loyalty rewards via their loyalty QR code or by manually entering their details at checkout.

Redeem rewards with your customer’s loyalty card QR Code

1. Add the customer's products that they want to buy to the sale.

2. Tap the Scan Loyalty Card tile

3. Ask your customer to scan their QR code by pointing it at the camera. This will open their loyalty account.

4. Select the reward you want to redeem. The loyalty discount will be automatically added to your cart.

When a customer redeems a discount as part of their order:

  • If they used a loyalty reward: the reward's loyalty points cost will be deducted from their points balance, and the discount will be applied to the sale. The customer's unique discount code will be shown in the discount details.

OR

  • If they used an email discount: the discount code will be removed from their account to prevent further use. The customer's unique discount code will also be displayed in the discount details.

6. Complete the sale. Upon completing the sale, customers will earn loyalty points based on their new order total, excluding the discount amount.


How do I redeem customer rewards using the Show Loyalty Rewards tile?

1. Add the customer's products that they want to buy to the sale


2. Tap Add customer, then search for them by name, email address, or mobile number

3. Tap View details to add them to the sale

⚽️ Heads up: When the customer is added to the sale, the Marsello: Scan, redeem loyalty rewards tile, automatically updates from "Scan loyalty card" to "Show loyalty rewards"

4. Tap the Show loyalty rewards tile

This will open the customer's loyalty profile, here you can view the loyalty reward(s) or email discount(s) they have available.

📝 Note: To open the loyalty profile the customer profile must contain a valid email address. Marsello uses the email address as a unique identifier for this purpose.

5. Tap Apply next to the discount title to add it to the sale.

The discount will then automatically be added to the sale.
