Blacklisting customers allows you to exclude certain customer groups such as staff, suppliers, and other types of customers from your loyalty program. While blacklisting product categories allow you to exclude certain products from your loyalty program so that customers can't earn points for purchasing those products. By default, all customers and product categories are included in your loyalty program.
Exclude (blacklist) customers from loyalty in Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) POS
Before you get started with blacklisting customers from loyalty
Here are some key details to note before getting started with blacklisting product customers in Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) POS
By default, all customers can earn points for purchasing any product from any category.
Marsello uses Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) POS Customer Groups for Customer Blacklisting.
Blacklisted customers can still be part of your email marketing list. If you already have a customer type that you would like to exclude, please skip ahead to the next section
Create a customer group to exclude in Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) POS
1. In your Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) POS admin, go to the Customers, and click Groups
2. On the Customer Groups page, click Add Group
3. Name your group, then click Add Group
Your customer group will now be created in your Lightspeed account.
4. In the Customers nav, Click Customers to return to your customer list
5. Search for the customer by name, customer code, or contact details
6. Click on the Pencil Icon to edit the customer's details
7. Click the Customer group drop-down and select your new customer group
8. Click Save Customer to assign that customer to the group
Repeat this for all of the customers that you would like to exclude from your loyalty program.
How to exclude a customer group from loyalty
1. In your Marsello app admin, go to Settings
2. Under Order Rewarding, go to Exclude customers that are tagged with one of:
3. Click to open the drop-down, then click the Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) Customer group tag
4. Click Save
Now, customers in this Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) customer group will be excluded from your loyalty program. They will not earn points when they make a purchase in-store.
π Note: If you want to add the customer back into your loyalty program in the future, just remove them from the customer group in Lightspeed Retail (X-Series).

If a blacklisted customer makes a purchase, the customer will not earn points for that order.

Marsello uses Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) POS', Product Tag for Blacklisting.
How to exclude product categories from loyalty
1. In your Marsello admin, go to your Loyalty tab and select Settings
2. On this page, scroll down to your store's Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) Order Rewarding, go to Do not reward points on products that belong to one of these categories
3. Click to open the drop-down, then click the Product Tag that you would like to exclude from your loyalty program
π Note: If you have just added the product to the product category, it can take 15mins to sync into Marsello settings. You can also exclude as many Lightspeed Product Tags from your loyalty program as needed.
4. Click Save
How it works β Your customers' experience
If the customer's purchase includes a product that is in the blacklisted category, the customer will not earn points for that particular product.
In your Marsello admin, under the customer's profile, this will show as a line item in the points calculation.
π Note: If the customer has other products that are not a part of the blacklisted category, the customer can still earn points for those products.
