How do I export a custom segment?

Export custom segments from your customer database in a few quick steps.

What is the process to export a custom segment?

1. In your Marsello admin, navigate to Customers > Segments

2. Under Segments, click View Segment on the segment that you would like to export

3. Under the Custom Segment page, next to Send Campaign to Segment, click the down arrow button

4. Click Export segment

In your Marsello admin, go to Customers > Segments. Under Segments, click 'View Segment' on the segment you wish to export. On the Custom Segment page, next to 'Send Campaign to Segment,' click the down arrow button. Then, click 'Export Segment. Your custom segment export will automatically start downloading as a CSV. file. It will be saved to your downloads folder on your computer.

Which fields are included when I export a custom segment?

Your customer database export contains the following information:

Customer Export Fields

Customer Information

  • Export ID
    A unique ID assigned to each customer. Useful for imports when an email address is unavailable.

  • First Name
    The customer’s first name.

  • Last Name
    The customer’s last name.

  • Email Address
    The customer’s email address.

  • Mobile Number
    The customer’s phone number.

  • Birthdate
    The customer’s date of birth.

  • Gender
    Gender provided by the customer, if available.


Loyalty & Engagement

  • Points Balance
    The customer’s current available loyalty points.

  • Total Points Collected
    The total number of loyalty points earned over the customer’s lifetime.

  • Segment
    The customer’s assigned RFM segment (for example: Best, Loyal, At Risk, or Cold).

  • Accepts Marketing
    The customer’s email marketing preference:

    • True = accepts marketing emails

    • False = does not accept marketing emails


Purchase Activity

  • Total Spent
    The total amount the customer has spent at your store.

  • Total Orders
    The total number of orders placed by the customer.

  • Last Purchase Date
    The date of the customer’s most recent purchase.


Account Status

  • Status
    The current status of the customer account:

    • Active

    • Deleted
