Troubleshooting guide: Signup form error on WooCommerce

Getting a sign-up error on a Marsello form? Use this guide to quickly troubleshoot and resolve the issue for your customers.

For WooCommerce merchants

If your customers are receiving this error message stating they could not be subscribed to your store:

Error message: "Could not be subscribed to your store." This may be due to WooCommerce settings requiring a password for customer creation. Update your settings to allow Marsello to create customers without a password.

You may need to update your customer creation settings in WooCommerce. The error message maybe happening as a result of Marsello creating the customer in your eCommerce platform and your settings may require a password to be submitted.

Updating account creation in your WooCommerce dashboard

Go to your WooCommerce dashboard and confirm the following settings are enabled:

  • Checkout:

    • Enable guest checkout

    • Enable log-in during checkout

  • Account creation:

    • Allow customers to create an account during checkout

    • Customers can create an account before placing their order on "My account" page

  • Account creation options

    • Send password setup link

    • Use email address as account login
