Automatically reward and remove loyalty points in WooCommerce

Choose when loyalty points are earned or removed based on order's payment status with WooCommerce.

When customers place an order in your WooCommerce store, that order will automatically sync through to Marsello. However, you can decide when the customer will earn loyalty points or have points removed for that order based on the order's WooCommerce payment status.


Choose when customers earn points for making a purchase

Every time a customer makes a purchase, their order is automatically synced to Marsello. If you have the Making a Purchase earn points option enabled, customers will earn points for their purchase when the ticket's payment status is marked as completed.

To confirm this setting from your Marsello app admin, go to Settings > Loyalty Points promotions and scroll down to Reward points when payment status is one of:
By default, your customers will earn loyalty points for their purchase if their order's payment status is Completed

Choose when customers earn points for purchases. Marsello syncs orders automatically, and if the “Making a Purchase” earn points option is enabled, customers earn points when the order payment status is marked as Completed. To check this setting, go to Settings > Loyalty Points promotions in the Marsello admin and review the “Reward points when payment status is one of” section.

📝 Note: You can choose to add more than one payment status. Your customers will only be rewarded loyalty points for their purchases once.

How to check the order's payment status in WooCommerce

1. In your WooCommerce Admin, go to Orders

: In your WooCommerce admin dashboard, navigate to the Orders section.

2. Search for the order by Customer Name or Order ID

Search for an order using the customer’s name or the order ID in WooCommerce.

3. On the order line item, you can see the order's Payment Status

The order line item displays the order’s payment status.

How it works – Your customers' experience

When the customer makes a purchase, their order details (eCommerce & POS) and payment status are automatically synced into your Marsello account.

If the order's payment status matches your Marsello Order Rewarding settings, the customer will automatically earn points for their order.

If you have the Earned Points Email notification turned on, the customer will also receive an email notifying them of how many points they earned for their purchase.

Customer purchase order details and payment status from eCommerce and POS sync automatically to Marsello. Customers earn points automatically when the payment status meets Marsello’s settings, and receive an email notification if enabled.

Choose when customers' loyalty points are removed

Every time a customer makes a purchase, their order is automatically synced to Marsello. If you have the Making a Purchase earn points option enabled, customers will also earn points for their purchase. If the customer wants to cancel or return their order, Marsello can automatically remove the points they earned for their purchase.

By default, your customers' loyalty points are removed when their order's payment status is Refunded

Customer orders automatically sync to Marsello with every purchase. If the "Making a Purchase" earn points option is enabled, customers earn points for their purchase. If an order is canceled or returned, Marsello automatically removes the earned points. By default, points are removed when the order’s payment status is Refunded.

📝 Note: To confirm this setting is saved in your Marsello app admin, go to Settings and scroll down to your WooCommerce settings.

How to check the order's payment status in WooCommerce

1. In your WooCommerce Admin, go to Orders

2. Search for the order by Customer Name or Order ID

3. In the order details, you can see the order's Payment Status

The order details page displays the payment status of the order.

How it works - Your customers' experience

When the customer returns their order or the sale is canceled, their order and the order's updated payment status is automatically synced to your Marsello account.

If the order's new payment status matches your Marsello Order Rewarding settings, the customer's loyalty points will automatically be removed from their loyalty profile.
