Automatically award & remove loyalty points for orders with Heartland Retail POS

Choose when loyalty points are earned or removed based on ticket payment status with Heartland Retail POS

For Heartland Retail POS merchants

Whenever a customer completes a purchase, the details of their transaction are seamlessly synchronized with your Marsello account. If you've activated the "Making a Purchase earns points" feature, customers will also accrue points corresponding to their purchase.

Should a customer decide to cancel or return their purchase, Marsello can automatically deduct the points they initially earned for that transaction.

In your Settings > Loyalty > Points program, you can choose when loyalty points are earned or removed based on ticket's payment status.

πŸ€– By default, customers will:

  • Earn loyalty points if their ticket's payment status is: Complete.

  • Remove their loyalty points if their ticket's payment status is: Void.


Choose when customers earn points for making a purchase

1. In your Marsello admin, go to Settings > Loyalty > Points program

πŸ€– By default: Customers' loyalty points are earned, when their ticket's payment status is updated to: Complete

2. Under Heartland Retail > Order Rewarding, click Reward Points when Payment Status is one of:


3. From the drop-down, click to add or remove your preferred Payment Status options

πŸ“ Note: You can choose to add more than one payment status. Your customers will only be rewarded loyalty points for their purchase once.

4. Click Save


Choose when customers' loyalty points are removed

1. In your Marsello admin, go to Settings > Loyalty > Points program

πŸ€– By default: Customers' loyalty points are removed, when their ticket's payment status is updated to: Voided

2. Under Heartland Retail > Order Rewarding, view Cancel Points when Payment Status is one of:

[Optional]: You can update your settings:

  • You can remove Void, and this will mean all points earned for the ticket will remain on the customer's account

OR

  • You can leave the settings as is, and the customer's points will be removed if their ticket's payment status is updated to Void.

3. Click Save


How to check the ticket's payment status in Heartland

1. In your Heartland Retail POS admin, in the top nav, go to Sales

2. Click Tickets


3. Search for the purchase by Customer Name, Ticket ID


3. On the ticket line item, find the ticket's Payment Status to compare with your Marsello loyalty order rewarding settings for earned or removed points.

Your customers' experience

When the customer makes a purchase, their purchase's ticket details and payment status are automatically synced into your Marsello account.

Earn Points

If the ticket's payment status matches your Marsello Order Rewarding settings, the customer will automatically earn points for their purchase.


If you have the Earned Points Email notification turned on, the customer will also receive an email notifying them of how many points they earned for their purchase.

Removed points

When the customer returns their purchase or the sale is canceled, their ticket and the ticket's updated payment status are automatically synced to your Marsello account.


If the ticket's new payment status matches your Marsello Order Rewarding settings, the customer's loyalty points will automatically be removed from their loyalty profile.
