How it works online - Your customers' experience

Your customers redeem their discount code at checkout as they normally would, however, if the order does not contain items from the collection(s), they'll get the message "Your cart does not meet the requirements for the discount code" and they won't be able to apply the discount until they add products from the specific collection(s).

Alt-text: "A Shopify checkout page showing a message that reads 'Your cart does not meet the requirements for the discount code,' indicating that the customer cannot apply the discount until items from the specified collection(s) are added to the cart.

📝 Note: It's important that the title and the terms of your reward make it clear what the collection is so that your customers understand how to redeem it.

Tips for Success

  • Get creative with your reward titles.

    • Add personality and variety to make rewards more appealing and spark customer interest in redeeming them.

  • Offer multiple reward options.

    • Create at least three rewards to motivate customers to earn more points. A reward "ladder" gives customers flexibility to choose what they want to work toward and encourages them to spend more to unlock higher-value rewards.

  • Educate your in-store team.

    • Make sure staff are familiar with your loyalty rewards so they can promote them at checkout. This helps engage existing customers and encourages new customers to join your program.

  • Test and learn what works.

    • Try offering different types and amounts of rewards to see what resonates most with your customers. Monitor which rewards get redeemed the most and adjust accordingly.

  • Include clear terms and conditions.

    • Setting expectations helps ensure rewards are used fairly and as intended. Be transparent about how and when rewards can be redeemed to protect your store and enhance customer trust.

📝 Note: Marsello doesn't currently support Smart (Automated) Collections. If you are looking to create a collection that works in a similar fashion and syncs to Marsello, we recommend taking the following steps on your Shopify admin:

  1. Go to Product > Collection > Create Collection

Shopify Admin interface displaying navigation to Products > Collections, with the 'Create Collection' button highlighted to guide users in creating a collection that syncs with Marsello.
  2. Set the Collection type to "Manual"

Shopify Admin interface showing the 'Collection Type' dropdown, with 'Manual' selected for creating a collection that syncs with Marsello.
  3. Continual updates of this collection from your Shopify app admin, will sync across to Marsello and update what collections the rewards can be applied to.

Create a product tag specific to this collection in Shopify. Then, manually tag each product for this collection.
