Award points for product reviews left on your eCommerce store

Encourage customers to write reviews about products on your eCommerce store with product reviews.

Please confirm your connected integration before enabling this earn option.


Before you get started:

  • Shopify stores - Check your Shopify Product Review app settings

  • Shopify stores - If you are using Judge.me's Awesome plan, become a member of our beta program for the Judge.me integration.

  • BigCommerce stores - Enable Product Reviews

Shopify Stores: Update your Shopify Product Review App settings

⚠️ Important: Shopify Product Reviews was discontinued in September 2023. If you have installed the Shopify Product Reviews app before this date, you may continue using it per usual and customers will continue to earn points for leaving product reviews.

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Apps and click Product Reviews


2. Click on the Review App settings


3. In the Review form text section, next to Type update this setting to Required.

📝 Note: Customers will need to enter their email addresses when leaving a review. This will allow Marsello to match the review to the customer and automatically award points.

BigCommerce Stores: Enable Product Reviews

⚠️ Important: To reward customers points for leaving product reviews, please ensure you have enabled BigCommerce's Product Reviews feature.

1. In your BigCommerce admin, go to Settings > Products > Comments


2. Next to I want to use, select Built-In

3. Click Save


4. Click on the Built-In tab at the top of this page.

5. Next to Enable For, select the Product Review box.

6. Click Save

📝 Note: Customers will need to enter their email addresses when leaving a review. This will allow Marsello to match the review to the customer and automatically award points.


How to set the earn points amount for Reviewing a product in Marsello

1. In your Marsello admin go to Loyalty > Points Program > Earning. Under Reviewing a Product, click Edit.

2. Under How many points should be given? enter your loyalty points amount, based on how much you value this action.

3. Under What's the maximum number of reviews a customer can be rewarded for:

  • Enter the number of times and the frequency that the customer can earn points for leaving a product review within the specified timeframe.

  • Add the minimum number of characters required in the review before the customer will be rewarded points. This is optional and defaulted to 0.

4. Click Save changes

5. Back in the main earning points menu, toggle the on/off button for the Reviewing Product ON.


How it works - your customers' experience

On the Marsello loyalty widget, under the Earn Tab, the customer will see the ability to earn points for ‘Reviewing a product’.


The customer can write a review on the product page and once it is submitted, they will earn points for this action.

If a customer chooses to leave an additional review, they will only receive points the number of times you have specified in your settings.

📝 Note: If you have your Earned Points Automation turned on, your customer will also automatically be notified. This automation will let them know how many loyalty points they have earned, their new loyalty points balance, and how many points away they are from their next reward.

Track the performance of the Reviewing a product earn option

You can see who has earned points for leaving a product review and when.


1. In your Marsello admin go to Loyalty > Points Program > Earning. Under Reviewing a product, click the down arrow beside the edit button and then click View reporting.

This will open the insight page. Here you can see:

  • Customers who completed this action

  • The amount of points they've earned

  • The date they completed the action
