Easily manage your loyalty program and email discounts with Marsello's integration into your Lightspeed eCommerce (ECWID) store. As customers make purchases or create accounts, they're automatically added to your loyalty and marketing database. They can seamlessly redeem rewards or email discounts at checkout.

Below is a step-by-step guide to your customers' journey.


⚠️ Important: Before you get started, ensure that the following has been completed:

  • Your online store site is enabled under the Integrations page

  • You have installed a Loyalty Portal on your online store.


Customers can join your loyalty program

Marsello utilizes your Lightspeed eSeries (ECWID) store accounts, allowing customers to use a single login for both your online store and loyalty program.

Customers can join your loyalty program through your:

  • Creating a store account

  • Loyalty portal

  • Online checkout

Through account creation

Via the Loyalty Widget

Make your loyalty program easily accessible by displaying the 'Check Rewards' launcher on your online store. Customers can quickly join by clicking 'Create a Store Account,' which directs them to Ecwid's My Account creation page

Via the Create an account

The customer can also click 'My user account' on your Ecwid online store account icon, which leads them to Ecwid's My Account creation page.

The Steps:

  • The customer can

    • Click Create account in the loyalty portal,

    • OR click My user account via the Ecwid online store icon

  • The customer is directed to the My Account page

  • The Customer enters their email address and clicks Get Sign-in link

  • An automated email (from Ecwid) is sent for email verification; the customer must click the link.

  • Clicking Sign in logs the customer into their Ecwid my account page.

The account is created in both Ecwid and Marsello, enabling a unified one-login experience.

  • Under 'Email' they can click Edit to add their name.

  • Under 'Communication preferences' they can click Change to update their marketing opt-in preferences

Through the online checkout

During checkout on your Ecwid store, customers provide their email address and select their marketing preferences.

This will create a new customer account on Ecwid and sync the customer across to Marsello.

Customer can opt-in to receive marketing

Customers can opt-in to receive marketing emails and SMS by selecting the checkbox on the My Account page or during checkout. This automatically updates their marketing preferences in both Ecwid and Marsello.


Customers can check their loyalty profile

Via the Loyalty Widget:

If your loyalty portal is visible on your online store, customers can easily access their loyalty profile by clicking the 'Check Rewards' launcher. From there, they can check their points balance, earn points, and view their rewards or email discounts.\

Steps:

  1. The customer clicks 'Log In' on the loyalty portal, which directs them to Ecwid's 'My Account' page.

  2. They click 'Sign In' to log into their Ecwid account.

  3. They click the loyalty launcher.

  4. They can view and interact with their loyalty profile, where they can:

    • Complete available earning options

    • View their rewards and/or email discounts


Customers can claim their loyalty reward

Via the Loyalty Widget

Once a customer has earned enough loyalty points, their reward will be unlocked. They can then click 'Redeem' to claim their unique reward discount code.

Steps:

  1. The customer logs into their Ecwid 'My Account' page.

  2. They click the loyalty launcher to view their loyalty profile.

  3. Next to their unlocked reward, they click the points cost (e.g., 500 points).

  • Click Claim

  • The customer's unique reward discount code will then be displayed ready for them to use at checkout, and the points cost will be removed from their loyalty points balance.

  • The customer can use their discount code now or save it for later.
    They can view their unused reward discount code at any time in their loyalty widget profile.

Customers can claim their email discount code

Via an Email Campaign or Automation

When a customer receives an email campaign or automation with a discount, they can click "Claim" to access their unique discount code through the loyalty portal.

Steps:

  1. The customer receives an email containing a discount offer.

  2. The customer clicks the call-to-action (e.g., "Claim Code") in the email.

  3. This opens the loyalty portal on your Ecwid store, displaying their unique email discount code.

  • The customer can use their discount code now or save it for later.
    They can view their unused email discount code at any time in their loyalty profile.

πŸ“ Note: The discount code will be accessible in their loyalty portal for the pre-determined timeframe. Once the expiration period is reached, the discount will automatically be removed.


Customers can redeem their reward or email discount code

At Checkout

When a customer is ready to checkout, they can access their loyalty profile to copy their unique reward or email discount code for use at checkout.

Steps:

  1. The customer logs into their Ecwid 'My Account' page.

  2. They click the loyalty launcher to view their loyalty profile.

  3. They claim or view their reward or email discount.

  4. They copy their unique discount code.

  • At checkout, they click Redeem your coupon and paste their unique discount code and then click Apply

The discount will be applied to the sale.

The customer will then continue to complete their checkout as normal.


FAQ

Q: Does the points cost get taken away from their balance when they redeem a reward?

A: Yes, as soon as the customer clicks 'Redeem' on the loyalty widget, their points balance is automatically adjusted, removing the points cost even if they don't use the coupon code in that order. This protects your store by preventing customers from redeeming rewards they are not entitled to.

Q: Can customers redeem more than one reward at a time?

A: Even if a customer has enough points to redeem multiple rewards, they can only use one discount code at a time. This is set by Ecwid to prevent discount stacking.

Q: Can a customer redeem their discount code more than once?

A: No, discount codes are unique and only available for one-time use.
