You can update your VIP program to better align with your loyalty strategy, such as by adjusting earning rates or rewards. However, some parts of your VIP program are locked once created, and changes must follow a specific process to be saved correctly.
This guide walks you through how to make updates to your VIP tiers, what limitations to be aware of, and what to expect after saving your changes.
⚠️ Important: VIP program editing limitations
When updating your VIP program, there are some changes you can make and others that are locked once created.
You can update:
Points earning rate (e.g. points per $ spent)
Rewards and benefits for each tier
You cannot change:
Spend thresholds (e.g. $1500 requirement)
Existing VIP tier structure
Delete existing tiers
Ensure your updates align with these limitations before saving changes. Saving changes will trigger a 7-day cooldown period.
How do I make changes to my VIP program settings?
To update your VIP program, you’ll need to pause the program first, then make your changes to the tier settings before saving.
Step 1: Pause your VIP program
⚠️Important: Pausing your VIP program prior to editing is required. Changes will not save if the program is active.
1. In your Marsello dashboard, go to Loyalty > VIP Program
2. Click Manage Settings
3. Select Pause program
Step 2: Edit your VIP tier(s)
1. Scroll down to VIP program settings to make the required changes to your program.
2. Make the appropriate custom optimizations. Here you can change:
How customers can enter a VIP tier:
Points earn per year
Amount spent per year
How customers can expire out of tiers
By default, once a customer enters a VIP tier, they remain there for life. However, you can opt to move customers to a lower tier if they have not met the annual requirement for their current tier by January 1st.
How customers redeem rewards
You can choose if customers can redeem rewards in their current tiers and the tiers below them

3. Once you have completed your updates, click Save changes.
⚠️ Important: Once you save your changes, they will be applied to your VIP tier and a 7-day cooldown period will begin.
During this time, you will not be able to make any further edits to your VIP program. If you need to make urgent changes during this period, contact Marsello Support for assistance.
