Why isn't the first name of my referring customers pulling through to my Referral Incentive Automation?
Merchants who signed up for a Marsello account prior to August 3, 2022, and are moving their earned points notification email from loyalty notifications to automation will need to resave their Shop Name merge tag.
Important: The Earned Points Automation is currently syncing the original merge tag of {{shop_name}} from the loyalty notification. You will need to remove the preset {{store_name}} merge tag from the automation and replace it with the one from the drop-down menu to ensure the Automation will send as expected.

How to Update the Advocate Customer First Name Merge Tag
The Referral Incentive Automation original merge tag of {{member_firstname}} from the loyalty notification. This is stopping the referring customer's first name from automatically appearing in the customer's email. To ensure your customer's name appears correctly, you will need to remove the preset {{advocate_customer_firstname}} merge tag from the automation and replace it with the one from the drop-down menu to ensure the Automation will send as expected.
To access the {{Advocate customer's First Name}} merge tag:
- double-click into the text box where the merge tag will live. This will open up a secondary email editor.
- click on the drop-down menu next to Merge Tag and select the Advocate customer's First Name merge tag.
Save and enable your Automation.
