Customize your sign-up form collection fields

Sign-up form default settings
As a default, the sign-up form fields include Name and Email Address. These two fields are required in order to add the visitor to your POS and/or eCommerce and into your Marsello mailing list.
Add a new field to your sign-up form
Customize your sign-up form to capture window shoppers' email addresses and any key information that will help you convert them into a customer.
1. In the Content & Design settings of your Sign-up Form, click on the Email text box.
This will open the form content settings in the builder on the right-hand side.
2. In the form content settings, click Add New Field
3. In the drop-down, click the field you'd like to add to your form.
4. Edit the field conditions & click the Show Label tick box
- Field Type: This sets the type of answer the customer can enter, e.g. Date will require the customer to enter the date in the form,
- Field Name: This is displayed in the backend of your Marsello App to help you identify the field.
- Field Label: This is displayed on your form so customers know what information to enter.
- Show Label tick box: When selected, this will display your Field Label on your form. If not selected, the Field Label will be hidden.
- Placeholder text: This is displayed to give your customers an example of what they need to enter.
- Required Field: When selected, this will require the customer to enter the information before they can submit their details.
- If the customer doesn't enter this information it will error and ask the customer to complete the field.
- If this field is not required, it will show as optional for the customer to enter.
5. Click Update Field to save your new field option.
If you'd like to remove a field option from your form, you can click Delete and then Update Field to remove this from your form.
This field option will now show on your sign-up form.
Create a custom field to add to your sign-up form
This is the option if you'd like to create a custom field outside of the field options.
1. In the Content & Design settings of your Sign-up Form, click on the Email text box.
2. In the form content settings, click Add New Field
3. Edit the field conditions & click the Show Label tick box
- Field Type: This sets the type of answer the customer can enter, e.g.
- Text field will require them to enter free text into the text box
- Date will require them to enter the date in the form
- Dropdown will require them to select one of the multi-choice options
Field Name: This is displayed in the backend of your Marsello App to help you identify the field.
- Field Label: This is displayed on your form so customers know what information to enter.
Show Label tick box: When selected, this will display your Field Label on your form. If not selected, the Field Label will be hidden.
- Placeholder text: This is displayed to give your customers' an example on what they need to enter.
- Required Field: When selected, this will require the customer to enter the information before they can submit their details.
- If the customer doesn't enter this information it will error and ask the customer to complete the field.
- If this field is not required, it will show as optional for the customer to enter.
5. Click Update Field to save your new field option. This field option will now show on your sign-up form.
Customize your call-to-action button
You can also update the call-to-action button text in your Form content settings.
1. In the form content settings, scroll down to the heading Button
2. Under Text, enter your preferred call-to-action text
3. Under Color, update your Text Color, Background Color to your brand colors by clicking on the color picker box
4. Enter your Hex Color Code or RGBA brand color or if you don't know this select a color from the above box.
5. Update your additional button options:
- Alignments: Where you'd like the button to sit on your form
- Width: How wide the button is on your form
- Font Size: Increase the font size within your button
- Border: Adjust the border of your button
- Rounded Border: Increasing this will make the button round
- Padding: Increasing this will increase the space within the button i.e. will make the button bigger
- Margin: Increasing this will increase the space around the button
As you make changes to your button settings you can see them in the form preview on the left.
Once you've finished customizing your sign-up form collection fields, these will automatically be saved when you click Save & Exit or Next step.
Your window shoppers' experience
Once you've shared your landing page link on your online store, social media, etc., window shoppers' will be able to join your mailing list by completing the sign-up form.
Window Shoppers need to enter their Name and Email address, and any new customized fields that you've added. Then opt-in to your mailing list by clicking the call-to-action button at the bottom of the form.
They will then be added as a customer on your POS and/or eCommerce and into your Marsello Window Shopper customer segment ready to receive your marketing.
