How loyalty reward or email discount redemption works online with Ecwid

Types of discounts you can create with Ecwid
These are the loyalty reward & email discount types that you can create with Ecwid:
✨ $ off storewide (most common)
✨ % off storewide (most common)
✨ Free Shipping
✨ $ off when the customer's minimum spend is over $X
✨ % off when the customer's minimum spend is over $X
When a customer has earned enough loyalty points, they can choose to spend their points on the loyalty reward of their choice to claim their unique discount code.
To do this, the customer will:
1. Click the loyalty tab to open the loyalty profile
2. Next to the reward of their choice, they'll click on the points cost e.g. 500 points
3. They will then confirm, by clicking Redeem
The customer's unique loyalty reward discount code will then display ready for them to use at checkout, and the points cost will be removed from their loyalty points balance.
The customer can use their discount code now, or save it for later. They can view their unused reward discount code at any time in their loyalty widget profile.
If you have your Reward Discount Email turned on, they will be able to find it in their emails as well.
How customers claim their email discount code
If you have sent the customer an email campaign or they have received an email automation that includes a discount code, the customer can claim their unique discount code.
To do this, the customer will:
1. Click the Claim Code button within the email campaign/automation
2. This will open their loyalty profile on the Ecwid online store, with their unique email discount code displaying
The customer's unique email discount code will then display ready for them to use at checkout.
When a customer is ready to checkout, they will click through to their cart.
They can click into their loyalty profile to view their unique loyalty reward or email discount code and copy it ready to use at checkout.
The customer can then click Redeem your coupon, paste their unique discount code and click Apply.
The discount will be applied to the sale.
The customer will then proceed to complete their checkout as normal.
Does the points cost get taken away from their balance when they redeem a reward?
Yes, as soon as a the customer clicks 'Redeem' on the loyalty widget, their points balance is automatically adjusted, removing the points cost even if they don't use the coupon code in that order. This protects your store by preventing customers from redeeming rewards they are not entitled to.
Can customers redeem more than one reward at a time?
Even if a customer has enough points to redeem multiple rewards, they can only use one discount code at a time. This is set by Ecwid to prevent discount stacking.
Can a customer redeem their discount code more than once?
No, discount codes are unique and only available for one-time use.
