See how your loyalty program works through your POS – add a customer, reward points for spend, and redeem a loyalty or promotion discount.

The following are step-by-step instructions to experience how your loyalty program works in-store with your Shopify POS.

Staff experience – Add yourself as a new customer & make a purchase

Here's how to create a new customer on Shopify POS and automatically add them to your loyalty program. 

1. Open your Shopify POS sale screen.

2. Add products to the sale.

💡Quick tip: Add enough products to the sale, so that you can earn enough loyalty points to unlock your first reward. 

3. Tap Select customer.

4. Tap the Plus (+) icon to create a customer.

5. Enter your First Name, Last Name and Email Address.

6. Check the Accept Marketing toggle, if you would like to receive email marketing set the toggle to ON (recommended). 

📝 Note: To test Marsello's email marketing features, please make sure the accept marketing toggle is ON. These features always respect the accepts marketing setting, so if this is switched to off, you will not receive any email marketing. 

7. Tap Save.

8. Complete the sale.

You will then be added to both Shopify and Marsello as a customer and earned loyalty points for your purchase.

If you have your Earned Points email turned on, you will also receive an email notifying you of the points you just earned. 

Customer experience – View your loyalty profile

Earned points email notification (if enabled)

1. In your email inbox, you will receive the Earned Points email. 

2. Open the Earned Points email

In the Earned Points Email, you can see:  

  • How many points you just earned 
  • Your current loyalty points balance
  • How many points you are away from unlocking your next reward

Reward unlocked email notification (if enabled)

If you have earned enough points to unlock a reward, you'll receive an email notification that you have earned enough points to claim a reward to use on your next purchase.

📝 Note: If you need to earn a few more points, make another purchase then continue. 

Staff experience – Make a purchase and redeem the customer's reward.

1. Open your Shopify POS sale screen.

2. Add products to the sale.

3. Add the customer (yourself) to the sale by searching by name or email address.

4. Then, your Marsello customer profile will display as a card on the current sale. Here you can:

  • See your current loyalty points balance 
  • See your available loyalty and promotional discounts

5. Tap View actions to view your available loyalty and promotional discounts. 

6. Tap the reward discount you would like to redeem. 

Then, the loyalty discount will automatically be added to the sale. 

7. Complete the sale

📝 Note: Currently you can only redeem available % and $ off the entire order discount codes this way. We are working with Shopify to explore advanced reward options.
