The following are step-by-step instructions on how to remove a discount code from the Shopify POS; if the customer wants to change the discount that is attached to the sale or save their points for another reward.

In cases like this, you can easily remove a discount code from the sale. If the customer used loyalty points to redeem the discount code, the points used will automatically be returned to their loyalty profile.

How to remove the discount from the sale when redeemed through the built-in loyalty program card

If you applied the loyalty reward discount through the built-in loyalty program card, you will need to delete the discount directly from the sales screen. 

1. On the open sale, scroll to the discount bar.

2. Swipe left to remove the discount from the sale.

The discount will then be removed from the sale and the customer's discount code will be removed from their account and their points returned.

How to remove the discount from the sale when redeemed through the loyalty profile pop-up

If you applied the loyalty reward discount through the loyalty profile pop-up, you will need to delete the discount from the loyalty profile pop-up. 

1. Tap on the Shopify tray menu (represented by the 3-dots on the top right corner of the POS screen).

2. Under the Tray Menu, tap Show Customer's Rewards.

3. Under Current Discount, you can see the discount code attached to the sale. 

📝 Note: As only one discount code can be added to the sale at a time, the other available discounts are hidden.  

4. Tap the Remove button next to the current discount.

You will see a notification to confirm the discount code has been removed from the sale. If the customer used loyalty points to redeem the discount code, the points used will automatically be returned to their loyalty profile. 

How it works – your customers' experience

At POS, the staff member will ask for the customer's name or email address to add them to the sale, along with the items they'd like to purchase.

The customer will ask to redeem a certain discount code which the staff member has then added to the sale. The points cost of this reward discount will be removed from the customer's points balance.  

If the customer decides they want to change the discount that is attached to the sale or save their points for another reward, the staff member will then remove the discount from the sale.

Then, the points the customer used to redeem the reward discount will then be returned to the customer's points balance.
