Shopify POS Redemption: When a customer has earned enough points to redeem a loyalty reward or has claimed a discount code sent via email marketing, they can redeem the discount code in-store by telling the staff member at checkout.

Types of rewards you can create with Shopify POS

These are the discount types that you can create with Shopify POS:

⚠️ Important: If you are using Rewards or Discounts with Advanced Options (ex. a minimum spend amount, discount is set to apply to specific collections/products) you will need to ensure your cashiers are correctly following the rules of the discount.

How staff redeem discounts in Shopify POS via the Loyalty Program Tile

1. Open your Shopify POS sale screen.

2. Add products to the sale.

3. Add the customer to the sale by searching by name or email address.

Then, the Marsello Loyalty Program tile will update to show:

  • Customer's current loyalty points balance
  • Customer's number of available loyalty and email promotion discounts

4. Tap the tile to select the reward or discount you'd like to apply to the sale.

5. Tap the reward or discount you would like to redeem. 

The discount will automatically be added to the sale and the points cost of that reward will be removed from the customers account straight away.

📝 Note: If the customer is redeeming a free product reward or discount, the product will need to be added to the cart before adding the reward or discount.

6. Complete the sale.

📝 Note: Currently you can only redeem available % and $ off the entire order discount codes this way. We are working with Shopify to explore advanced reward options through the loyalty program tile.

How to redeem a reward or discount using the Customer Rewards Tile

You can also view the customer loyalty widget to show available rewards and discounts as well as a list all rewards and point values. 

This method is helpful if your customer hasn't earned points yet and wants to learn more about rewards.

1. Open your Shopify POS sale screen.

2. Add products to the sale.

3. Add the customer to the sale by searching by name or email address.

4. Tap the Show customer's rewards Tile:

5. The widget will appear and show the customer's current points balance, VIP tier, and all available rewards and discounts. Tap Redeem to add a discount to the sale:

📝 Note: If you have online advanced reward types, these will still show in POS. You will need to tell staff not to redeem these, unless you provide strict staff training to ensure the correct items are added to the sale and that any spend conditions are met. Then, the loyalty discount will automatically be added to the sale and the points cost of that reward will be removed from the customers account straight away.

7. Complete the sale.

💡Tip: If your customer changes their mind about the reward or would like to change the reward they've selected, you will need delete the discount code from the sale and refund their points from the Marsello Customer Profile. Learn More.

FAQ

Does the points cost get removed from their points balance when they redeem a reward?
Yes, as soon as a reward is added to the sale, the customer's points balance is adjusted, removing the points cost. 

Can customers redeem more than one reward at a time?
The customer can only redeem one reward at a time. This is a rule created by Shopify to prevent discount stacking

How do customers redeem rewards online?
Customers can claim a reward on your loyalty widget, and then redeem it by pasting the code into the discount bar at checkout.
