The following are step-by-step instructions on how to redeem the customer's loyalty or promotional discounts at through Shopify POS. Redeeming rewards at POS is easy and only takes a matter of seconds.

How to redeem a loyalty or promotional discount from through the built-in loyalty program card

You can apply available loyalty and promotional discounts directly from the customer's cart on Shopify POS. 

1. Open your Shopify POS sale screen.

2. Add products to the sale.

2. Add the customer to the sale by searching by name or email address.

3. Then, the Marsello customer profile will display as a card on the current sale. Here you can:

  • See their current loyalty points balance.
  • See their available loyalty and promotional discounts.

4. Tap View actions to view their available loyalty and promotional discounts.

5. Tap the reward discount you would like to redeem. 

Then, the loyalty discount will automatically be added to the sale and the points cost of that reward will be removed from the customers account straight away. 

6. Complete the sale.

📝 Note: Currently you can only redeem available % and $ off the entire order discount codes this way. We are working with Shopify to explore advanced reward options through the loyalty program card.

How to redeem a loyalty or promotional discount from through the loyalty profile pop-up

You can also apply available loyalty and promotional discounts through the customers' loyalty profile pop-up. 

1. Open your Shopify POS sale screen.

2. Add products to the sale.

3. Add the customer to the sale by searching by name or email address.

4. Tap the Shopify Tray Menu (represented by the 3-dots on the top right corner of the POS screen).

5. Under the Tray Menu, tap Show customer's rewards.

6. In the member's profile, next to the $ or % off reward tap Redeem.

📝 Note: If you have online advanced reward types, these will still show in POS. You will need to tell staff not to redeem these, unless you provide strict staff training to ensure the correct items are added to the sale and that any spend conditions are met. Then, the loyalty discount will automatically be added to the sale and the points cost of that reward will be removed from the customers account straight away.  

7. Complete the sale.

💡Tip: If your customer changes their mind about the reward or would like to change the reward they've selected, you delete the discount code from the sale and refund their points. Learn more.

FAQ

Does the points cost get removed from their points balance when they redeem a reward?
Yes, as soon as a reward is added to the sale, the customer's points balance is adjusted, removing the points cost. 

Can customers redeem more than one reward at a time?
The customer can only redeem one reward at a time. This is a rule created by Shopify to prevent discount stacking

How do customers redeem rewards online?
Customers can claim a reward on your loyalty widget, and then redeem it by pasting the code into the discount bar at checkout.

Types of rewards you can create for POS

We recommend only using simple storewide discounts for in-store:

✨ $ off storewide
✨ % off storewide

There are 10 types of rewards that you can create, please note that the advanced rewards require strict staff training so that they are correctly redeemed in-store.
